A Student’s Perspective: “Who are the Ahlayl bayt and why is it important to love them?

The following article was written by seventh grader, Jazil Nadeem. His work was chosen from his class to be published. Masha’Allah Jazil! We have published his article below:

There are five people of the Category of “Ahlayl Bayt”

1) Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

2) Bibi Fatimah

3) Imam Ali

4) Imam Hasan

5) Imam Hussain

They are called the Panjtanpak, meaning the five clean people. It is important to love them because in the Qur’an it says to love them.

Ayat-e-Tathir (Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 33) “Verily Allah swt intends to keep off from you every kind of uncleanness O’ People of the House (Ahlayl Bayt), and purify you with the perfect purification.”

Also, in hadith, the significance of Ahlayl Bayt has been mentioned. This hadith is famously known as Hadith Al-Thaqalain.

The Prophet addressed his followers:  O’ People!  I am about to be called upon [by the Most High] and so I will soon be leaving you.  I will bequeath you two most precious matters.  They are:

The book of Allah, as a cord extended from heaven to earth, and My Itra [family], Ahlayl bayt. Allah, the Benevolent and the All-Knowing has informed me that these two will be inseparable (from each other) till they reach me at the Pool of Blessings in Heaven.  See then, O’ people, how well you are to deal with them after I depart [from this world].

It is clear from these hadith and quranic ayats that it is our duty as Muslims to love the Ahlayl bayt. I think that without these Special People, our Islam wouldn’t be complete. Allah swt has blessed us with the Ahlayl bayt. The importance of the Ahlayl bayt only goes to show the importance of loving Prophet Muhammad (SAW) since none of this wouldn’t have happened without him (SAW), and there wouldn’t be any Ahlayl bayt.
