Editor’s Note: Devotion to Rasulullah صلي الله عليه واله وسلم:The Sahaba
This issue of TMN (The Monthly Noor) primarily focuses on the devotion and the love of the Sahabah to our beloved Rasulullah صلي الله عليه واله وسلم . This concept is vital for our understanding because it was as a result of this love and devotion that raised the ranks and levels of the Sahabah Karam Radi’Allahu Anhum Ajma’in. It was this love for our beloved Rasulullah صلي الله عليه واله وسلم , among other aspects, that made them the best of people, the most influential, and the most powerful. Allah states in the Majestic Qur’an, also chosen for our ayat of the month, that the Sahabah were the best of mankind. Allah goes onto describe in the Majestic Qur’an in Surah Al-Fath:
“[T]hey are compassionate and tender towards one another. You will see most of them making the rukû’ or making the sajda. They beg Allâhu ta’âlâ to give all people all sorts of goodness and superiority in this world and the next. They also wish for ridwân [that Allâhu ta’âlâ be pleased with them]. It will be seen on their faces that they have been making the sajda very much. …. They filled everywhere with lights of îmân. As others marvel at a sprout’s growing in a short time, likewise, as these people’s beautiful manners and fame spread over the Earth, those who saw it were astonished and they admired them, while unbelievers became angry.”
Allah (SWT) describing the Sahabah Karam Radi’Allahu Anhum Ajma’in in such a manner only presents additional evidence to illuminate their true status and level in the eyes of Allah (SWT).
In addition, our beloved Rasulullah صلي الله عليه واله وسلم was reported to have said, “Each and every one of my Ashab is like the stars in the sky. Adapting yourself to any one of them will guide you to love of Allahu ta’ala” (Mir’ât-i-kâinât p.326).
The Sahabah Radi’Allahu Anhum Ajma’in were the best of people, so we wanted to dedicate this issue of TMN to their greatness so that we can increase our love for them. And just like our beloved Rasulullah صلي الله عليه واله وسلم said in his narration above, we wish to become more like the Sahabah and learn from them so that we can ultimately bring ourselves closer to our Lord, our Creator, our Allah (SWT).
Any mistakes are from myself, I ask you to remember the authors in your du’as, and forgive us for all our shortcomings.
